In their own words the United Nations Mine Activation Service organizes a coordinated response to the remnants of war. Most of us will never experience the terror or the human cost that comes with living with landmines. Up to 10 people every day in over 30 countries around the world are maimed by triggering a mine. It is the UNMAS mission to eradicate this in our lifetime. To help raise awareness we created a two-sided experience for the visitors phone that was downloaded on entry to the exhibition at the New Museum, and later at the United Nations HQ in New York. The first side was a visual and audio guide taking you through the exhibition space. The second side was delivered “on- trigger” of a mine (using blue tooth beacon technology) where you were presented with an educational experience, and a means to make a donation via text message. UNMAS saw a 152% increase in donations, and 150 Million impressions on the first day of the show.
